Our small little community began bulk waste pickup a few months back. In order to control costs and set expectations, we require residents to sign up for bulk pickup the week before.

I’ve had a few complaints (not many), and people are still adjusting to the idea of having to actually request the pickup, but it’s made it much easier on the contractor, less expensive overall.

I’ve been following the developments in Jackson, Tennessee; they’re essentially doing the same thing (their regulations are much more … verbose).

A change to current residential bulk and yard waste guidelines will be effective for all Jacksonians beginning Jan. 1, 2023.
At the start of the new year, all bulk waste pick-ups must be scheduled by calling (731) 425-8545 or by emailing the Health and Sanitation Department at H&S@JacksonTN.gov. Included in the monthly fee paid by the one and two-family residential units, are 12 pick-ups in a calendar year.
